| Abstract | Próximo de Porto Trombetas, no Estado do Pará, foi despejado, no Lago Batata, efluentes líquidos (rejeito) gerado pelo tratamento de bauxita, ao longo de dez anos (1979- 1989). Isto impactou cerca de 30% da área do lago. Um esforço da empresa de mineração, tendo como objetivo a restauração florestal nesta área afetada, ocorreu entre 1992- 1996. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar a dinâmica temporal dessa regeneração florestal. Para isso, utilizou-se uma ferramenta para a análise do uso e cobertura da terra (LULC), baseada em séries temporais de 16 anos de imagens MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer), disponíveis no LAF (Remote Sensing Laboratory for Agricultural and Forest applications) website (https://www.dsr.inpe.br/laf/series/en). O índice de vegetação escolhido para o presente estudo (Enhanced Vegetation Index) destacou as variações da cobertura da terra e apresenta-se como uma ferramenta potencial para o monitoramento da dinâmica de restauração florestal. ABSTRACT: Near Porto Trombetas, Pará state, liquid effluent (tailings), generated by the treatment of the mineral, was dumped into Lake Batata for ten years (1979-1989), affecting about 30% of the lake area. An effort by the mining company, in order to forest restoration at this affecting area, occurred between 1992-1996. The objective of this study is to analyze the temporal dynamics of this forest regeneration. For this, we used a tool for the land use and land cover changes (LULC) analysis, based on 16 years time series of MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) images, available in the LAF (Remote Sensing Laboratory for Agricultural and Forest applications) website (https://www.dsr.inpe.br/laf/series/en). The vegetation index chosen for the present study (Enhanced Vegetation Index) highlighted the land cover variations and presents a potential tool for monitoring the dynamics of forest restoration. |
